For some people the decision is taken away from them, for others conception happens straight away while for others it can take a long time. Whatever your situation, The Food Nutritionist can help you on your way to a healthy, happy pregnancy and beyond my programmes will give you the support and know-how to succeed. Preconception

Before you even try to conceive it’s worth preparing your body to except this new life. There are so many nutrients needed at this time. The advice is to have at least three menstrual cycles before you try to conceive. Irregular periods and having been on the conceptive pill can affect conception success, so it’s a good idea for you and your partner to nourish and cleanse your bodies before trying to conceive. Pregnancy 

If you are already pregnant, then congratulations! Remember that good nutrition and lifestyle play a big part in the development of your baby. You can get ahead by learning about the current research around vitamin B3, vitamin B6 and iodine and their role in the health of baby. Not forgetting amino acids and fatty acids, which are essential for he development of a baby’s brain. My programmes are fit for every step along the way so whether you’re at six weeks or six months contact me to find out about the different ways I can support you through this process.

Breast or bottle

Whatever way you decide to feed your baby there is a programme for you and your family. This can be both a very challenging and a rewarding time, In days gone by we would have had our mothers, aunties and neighbours to help but increasingly more and more parents are finding themselves alone. My programmes are designed to help ease you into this process, if you are local, advice can be given in the comfort of your own home or via Skype. This programme also offers breastfeeding support. As a knowledgeable mother of three boys, who were all breastfed, there’s nothing like someone with hands on experience to support you. Even if you decide to bottle feed the support will be there for you and your baby.

Preconception care plan

This programme can be tailored to suit individuals, couples or families
    It incorporates a three months preconception programme with different levels of support. This programme is for you if you are:
  • Seeking to get pregnant and would like to optimise your health prior to conception.
  • Experiencing problems, as a couple or an individual, with conceiving or retaining a pregnancy
  • The aim is to help you start your pregnancy with the strongest possible sperm and egg, to enable the embryo to implant and develop under the better possible conditions in a well-nourished and healthy environment.

Pregnancy care plan

My pregnancy care programme provides a bespoke service that is fully tailored to your requirements.
    Once pregnant your body goes through several changes both physical and hormonal. The way you nourish your body during this time may affect both your health and your baby’s. My programme will show you:
  • How important it is to eat a balanced diet to help ensure you stay healthy throughout your pregnancy.
  • How to consume foods that are rich in nutrients.
  • How to promote your baby's growth and development. 
  • By following my easy nutrition guidelines, you can be on your way to a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Depending on which trimester you are in we can also give nutritional advice to help you prepare for labour.

Postnatal care plan

Designed to provided a bespoke service that complements your healthcare professional.
    Alongside your healthcare professional I will aim to support you through the process of breastfeeding, bottle feeding and nutrition. For some new mums this can be both an exciting and anxious time. Your growing baby can be very demanding and good nutrition is important to help replenish your body with the nutrients it needs. Eating well is one of the best things you can do for you and your baby. Focusing on small meals that include essential fats, protein and vegetables and to help keep your sugar levels in balance. We can also discuss supplements that might help you to support your level of nutrients while looking after your new bundle of joy.
